harbor house of LOUISVILLE provides daily programming for adults with physical and mental disabilities. during ironman louisville race week, team imf performed a “field day” service project at harbor house, and presented a surprise $5,000 donation to support their tremendous programs.
the ironman foundation provided the louisville sports commission with a $10,000 community grant to support their local sports programming within the louisville region that promotes healthy lifestyles, including the kids finish first program. local children involved with the ymca of greater louisville’s after-school programs were challenged to run 13.1 miles in small increments, culminating at the finish line of the louisville sports commission’s half marathon. kids finish first encourages kids ages 5-14 to take steps towards leading a healthy, active lifestyle, and develop a love of running.
each year, oldham county fiscal court’s parks & recreation department puts on a fun, safe, and accessible entry-level sprint triathlon which encourages local athletes to take the first step on their triathlon journey. a $10,000 community grant from the ironman foundation was awarded to oldham county fiscal court to support this event, as well as their other youth-based athletic programs within oldham county.
