Entry Validation Requirements
As the swimming, bicycling and running distances are substantial, and the IRONMAN® World Championship Triathlon is extremely physically demanding, both the Selected Entrant and IRONMAN must act reasonably to ensure the safety of all participants while providing the Selected Entrant the opportunity to participate in the Event.
As such, the Selected Entrant shall be required to demonstrate her personal completion of a triathlon (as an age-group athlete and not as a relay participant) consisting of, at a minimum, a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run, between October 10, 2016 and August 21, 2017 (the “Validation Requirement”), so as to ensure the health and safety of the Selected Entrant and all other participants during the course of the Event.
Such triathlon is not required to be affiliated with IRONMAN. IRONMAN’s review of evidence related to this required demonstration, and IRONMAN’s approval of such evidence will not be unreasonably withheld.
By submitting an application, if chosen as the Selected Entrant, Applicant is committing to raise or donate at least $25,000 (the “Fundraising Minimum”) at least two weeks prior to the Event. If the Selected Entrant has to withdraw from the Event due to personal reasons, injury, failure to meet to the Validation Requirements, or any other reason after the Selected Entrant has already accepted the Women for Tri Kona Entry, the Selected Entrant will still be responsible for the Fundraising Minimum. This is regardless of whether or not IRONMAN decides to give an additional entry to the Event to another individual. All donations received are 100% tax deductible.
The Event is scheduled to occur on October 14, 2017. Dates subject to change. The Women for Tri Kona Entry is an opportunity not otherwise available to the public for purchase and would otherwise require qualification into the Event. The Women for Tri Kona Entry is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged or returned. The IRONMAN Foundation and IRONMAN are not responsible if the Selected Entrant does not use the Women for Tri Kona Entry on the day of the race. Please apply only if you are prepared to pay for, travel to and enter the Event.
Travel, accommodations, equipment, and any other associated costs or expenses (including all entry fees or other costs or expenses associated with the Validation Requirement) are not included. Taxes and fees, and all additional costs that may be incurred, if any, are the sole responsibility of the Selected Entrant. If the Selected Entrant is unable to claim the Women for Tri Kona Entry for any reason, the Selected Entrant will not receive any substitution or reimbursement of the Women for Tri Kona Entry or portion thereof. Any unclaimed Women for Tri Kona Entry or unused portion of the Women for Tri Kona Entry shall be forfeited in their entirety. The Women for Tri Kona Entry is awarded “as is” and without warranty of any kind, express or implied (including, without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose). It is the Selected Entrant’s sole responsibility to stay informed about the details including Event location, time and any changes regarding the Event.
The Selected Entrant must comply with all instructions and protocols required (including, but not limited to, tickets to events or background checks) and is responsible for all documentation required. The Selected Entrant is required to provide IRONMAN and The IRONMAN Foundation with her name, residential addresses, telephone number, email address and must present valid government-issued photo ID (such as license, passport or Military ID) upon request. In the event the Selected Entrant engages in behavior at any time that IRONMAN determines, in their sole discretion, is threatening, illegal or intended to abuse, threaten or harass any other person, IRONMAN reserves the right to terminate the W4T Kona Entry, in whole or part, and there will not be any substitution.
No substitution or transfer of the Women for Tri Kona Entry is permitted by the Selected Entrant. No costs or expenses incurred by the Selected Entrant are included in the Women for Tri Kona Entry. IRONMAN and The IRONMAN Foundation are not responsible for any lost, mutilated, or stolen tickets, travel vouchers or certificates. IRONMAN and The IRONMAN Foundation are not responsible for the Women for Tri Kona Entry utility, quality or otherwise.
The Selected Entrant may be required to provide IRONMAN and The IRONMAN Foundation with a valid social security number before the W4T Kona Entry will be awarded for tax reporting purposes, if applicable. Taxes and fees, and all additional costs that may be incurred, if any, are the sole responsibility of the Selected Entrant. An IRS Form 1099 may be issued in the name of the Women for Tri Kona Entry for the actual value of the Women for Tri Kona Entry received. All Women for Tri Kona Entry details not specified in this application will be determined in The IRONMAN Foundation and IRONMAN’s sole and absolute discretion. The approximate total value of the Women for Tri Kona Entry is $1,000.00.

The Selected Entrant will be notified by telephone and/or email and will receive all relevant documents and materials on or before June 15, 2017. To claim her prize, the Selected Entrant must return to The IRONMAN Foundation and IRONMAN, by June 30, 2017, any and all applicable affidavits, documents, and releases, as may be required by IRONMAN and The IRONMAN Foundation.
Such documents shall include, but are not limited to: Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release, Publicity Release, in addition to the Event’s Athlete Waiver and Release of Liability, which is required to be signed by all participants in the Event. Verification that the Selected Entrant has completed a triathlon consisting of, at a minimum, a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run, between October 10, 2016 and August 21, 2017 shall be due on or before August 26, 2017. The Selected Entrant, along with all other participants in the Event, must have a valid USA Triathlon (USAT) license on the day of the race or purchase a one-day membership. If the Selected Entrant fails to respond, or fails to comply with any of these official rules, or if IRONMAN and The IRONMAN Foundation determine that the Selected Entrant is otherwise ineligible or disqualified, the Selected Entrant shall be disqualified and no additional award of entries shall occur.
