DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION
The IRONMAN Foundation champions diversity advocacy efforts that proactively remove participation barriers to welcome more diverse individuals to endurance sports no matter their race, gender, physical or mental abilities, socioeconomic status, and more. We provide grants and support to organizations and programs aimed at identifying and removing these barriers that impact diverse athlete groups.
Race For Change Scholarships
In 2020, with the mission to ensure equity for athletes and first-time hopefuls in the sport of triathlon and the communities where they live, train and race, The IRONMAN Foundation and The IRONMAN Group launched the Race For Change program with an initial pledge of $1 million of support. During its fourth year, in 2024, the program is expanding to greater serve diverse communities and provide opportunities to more athletes through its Race For Change Scholarship Program.
The Race For Change Scholarship, seeks to support individuals from underrepresented communities who have the desire to participate in an IRONMAN or IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon race. In 2024, up to three Race For Change Scholarships, each valued up to $10,000 USD, will be awarded for the 2024 North American race season.
Women For Tri
Since its inception in 1978, IRONMAN has been distinctive in its inclusion of female and male competitors across the same courses and distances, with the same challenges and rules. In keeping with the unique spirit of our sport, Women for Tri looks to increase and support female participation in IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 events around the world.
In 2024, in line with IRONMAN's efforts, the IRONMAN Foundation will spotlight the strength and perseverance of women committed to not only crossing the finish line in Nice, France for the Women's IRONMAN World Championship, but to leaving a positive impact in the race communities where IRONMAN athletes live, train, and race.
